Choose to Achieve

Thursday, January 22, 2015

My alarm went off this morning at 6:15 like it always does.....and the usual thought ran through my head, "Here we go again."

The thought of working out in addition to the soreness I felt from yesterday's plank jacks and military push ups was enough to make me pull the sheets over my head again. But no......I get up, pull on the nike's, and hit the mat. Why?? Because today's pain, by tomorrow will make me strong.

Choices. There's a lot to be said about those.....not the big where to go to school, who to marry, what job to take, or where to move.....but the small choices we face every day that determine who we become and ultimately, what we achieve.

Jillian Michaels, my fitness IDOL, always says during that last 15 seconds of mountain climbers when my heart's about to burst and sweat is dripping like rain, "Transformation is NOT a future event, it is a present activity."

And then, of course, dropping to my knees panting is no longer an option.

Well played, Jillian.

But she has a point. All of tomorrow's achievements, all of your future goals, aspirations, dreams, and hopes.....will NEVER be accomplished unless you start TODAY.

I'm a firm believer in that.

So why wait?? You know the quote that's used SO often in General Conference  from The Music Man......ok so there's many of them, but here's the one I'm talking about: "You pile up enough tomorrows, and you'll find you've collected a lot of empty yesterdays."

And favorite quote from the man himself, President Thomas S Monson, "There is no tomorrow to remember if we don’t do something today. It has been said by one, years ago, that history turns on small hinges, and so do people’s lives. Our lives will depend upon the decisions which we make—for decisions determine destiny."

Determine your destiny.

Do it now.

Don't wait.

The choices you make today will effect what you achieve tomorrow.

What will you choose to achieve??
